Will Broughton

Equipment Officer

William was inspired to take up diving after growing up watching Deadly 60, the adventure wildlife show presented by Steve Backshall. His mum gave him a try-dive as a Christmas present in 2022, which he completed in January 2023. By the end of that year, William had proudly qualified as an Ocean Diver.

As Equipment Officer, William is responsible for ensuring that all the club’s kit is serviced and in good working order. He also manages the use of equipment for try-dives and when it is hired out by trainee Ocean Divers, helping to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable diving experience.

William decided to join the committee as a way of giving back to the club. He believes it’s important to create an environment where members can enjoy themselves both in the water and socially on land.

When he’s diving, William is a keen amateur underwater photographer, capturing the stunning beauty of the underwater world. His most memorable dive moment was with seals during the 2024 Lundy trip—an experience hopefuly topped by a dive on this year’s Lundy trip.

William’s favourite pre-dive meal is a breakfast bacon buttie, and after a dive, he enjoys a good curry for dinner. In his spare time, he’s often preparing for his next diving adventure, always ready to explore new depths.
