Saturday was the second of the annual clay shooting competitions, held at Adventure Sports in Warwick. The first, last year, being won, by Ellen Noakes (a girl!) with Peter Virgo, taking home the Wooden Spoon.
This year’s winner and Hot Shot was Jay Scott with 28 hits out of 32, albeit he used his own gun… so next year this will be stopped!
In second place, on count back was Geoff Russell and third place was Andy Bacon, both with 27 hits.
Wooden Spoon, winner and therefore ‘Loser’ was a very despondent but highly deserving, Prich, with an unbelievable 9 hits… how is this ridiculously low score possible? N.B. An improvement of 100% would NOT have changed his ‘achievement’, as winner of the Wooden Spoon!
The Best Team was made up of Pete Talbot, Jay Scott, Nigel Maris and Krys Piecha, with 99 hits out of a possible 128.
This event, which has been arranged by Rich Talbot (mostly) is now well and truly etched into the ‘Traditions’ of the club, on the basis that we have now purchased (from the proceeds) a trophy that has at least 7 mini shields on it that can be engraved with the Winner’s Name. For the inaugural competition in 2015, there was a Tankard for the winner but Ellen has taken this and now has her afternoon tea and pre dinner G+T’s in it.
Finally, a big thanks to Rich for starting and continuing with this event, which does raise funds for the club and to everyone that joined in (18) and then met for drinks, banter and arguing, afterwards at the Saxon Mill, oh and for the Sun that shined on us after the initial snow flurries!

Well done Richard. Great stuff!
Maybe next year I should come along – and give Prich some decent competition for the wooden spoon.

Ha indeed I think the spoon needs engraving Aswell!
